by @FP 09 Jul 2026 tech / internet-retele ro / en

The Mission: A small "CubeSat" (roughly shoe-box sized) named CyberCUBE was successfully launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket into orbit.

The Goal: It will act as an orbital testbed for the European Space Agency (ESA) to analyze cyberattacks on spacecraft, evaluating defenses against command jamming, identity spoofing, and testing post-quantum cryptography.

Romanian Milestone: GMV România served as the prime contractor—coordinating design, integration, launch, and validation—marking the first time an ESA mission was fully led by a private Romanian company.

Operations: Daily operations will run out of ESA’s center in Redu, Belgium, with high-speed communications handled from Darmstadt, Germany.
